Monday ProCanes Report: Olsen Builds Streak

The Monday Morning ProCanes report will weed through all the NFL highlights and news to bring you the information you care about the most… what the former University of Miami Hurricanes did during the week prior. Greg Olsen, whose first touchdown of the season for the Carolina Panthers ended suspense early, was one of three ProCanes on the day to score. A dominant performance from Patriots’ nose tackle Vince Wilfork keyed another strong week from ProCanes across the NFL.

Greg Olsen (Carolina Panthers) – six catches, 89 yards, 1 touchdown
The sixth-year tight end has strung together two strong weeks for the Panthers, including a six-catch performance in his team’s losing effort Sunday at Atlanta. Olsen, who opened the game’s scoring with a rumbling score up the near sideline, has 13 catches and 187 yards in the past two weeks. With his 89-yard performance on Sunday, Olsen is now projected for his first career 1,000-yard season.

Willis McGahee (Denver Broncos) – 19 carries, 112 yards, 1 touchdown
Though much of the offseason hype surrounding the Broncos focused on the team’s acquisition of a veteran quarterback, Willis McGahee has continued to provide Mile High Stadium the necessary spark out of the backfield. The tenth-year pro had arguably his best performance of the season in his team’s blowout win over Oakland, finishing with 112 yards on the ground and six catches in the field. His three touchdowns on the season tie him for fourth-most among all running backs.

Vince Wilfork (New England Patriots – 3 tackles, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery
The longest-tenured defensive Patriot helped his team turn a two-touchdown deficit into a blowout win over conference rival Buffalo. Wilfork’s three tackles don’t begin to describe his impact on the game. The ninth-year nose tackle, who recovered a Buffalo fumble during a goal line stand and registered a tipped pass that resulted in an interception earlier in the game, keyed a Patriots’ defense that forced six turnovers.
