CORAL GABLES, Fla – Less than 12 hours after concluding the first practice of fall camp, the Miami Hurricanes returned to the Greentree Practice Fields for day two of #CanesCamp. This time, practice went according to schedule, beginning Saturday at 8:20 a.m. and lasting until 11 a.m.
Prior to the start of practice, media interest swelled around the large number of young players on head coach Al Golden’s squad. Golden and Co. enter #CanesCamp with 11 returning starters, including only four on offense.
“There’s talent here,” Golden said. “Clearly, (it’s) not a senior-laden team like last year, we don’t have as much experience.
“Whether it’s to the level of those guys that have left, that remains to be seen because these guys haven’t played any games,” Golden said. “But, clearly, there’s talent here.”
Only a few days into #CanesCamp and Golden has noticed the amount of work many of the players put in since spring practice concluded.
“I think they’ve put in a lot of work this summer, acclimated themselves,” Golden said. “Clearly, some of the receivers have been working with the quarterbacks because they were picking up hand signals (on Friday), which is great to start the season.”
Players and coaches didn’t receive much relief from the heat and humidity on day two as temperatures continued well into the 80s, while the humidity stayed around 75 percent for the majority of practice.
#CanesCamp continues Sunday with Miami’s third practice, which is slated for 8:20 a.m.
Prior to practice Head Coach Al Golden, DL Curtis Porter and DB Thomas Finnie met with reporters and talked about yesterday’s initial session and moving closer to the season.
