CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The Universityof Miami football team continuedspring drills with a two-hour workout in helmets and shorts Tuesdayafternoon at the Greentree Practice Facility on the UM campus.
The team opened practicewith fundamental drills within respectiveposition groups before concluding with the traditional seven-on-sevendrillsbetween the first and second team offense and defense.
“Practice today was goodfrom the stand point of our enthusiasm,”said head coach Butch Davis. “Our coaching staff is doing a great jobofteaching which is a key for spring practice. We are also trying toevaluatesome of the younger players and find out how they can best contributeto thefootball team.
“There are several thingswe are trying to accomplish this spring,the number one of which is the solidification at quarterback. KennyKelly’semergence is a key to next years football team. We are also lookingtodevelop some depth in the offensive line and solidify the four startersinthe secondary.”
Davis later applauded theefforts of the Hurricane wide receivers.
“The one group that reallystood out today was our receivers. AaronMoser caught everything in sight and Santana Moss had a great day.Ourreceivers have a lot of experience which I think is helping them.”
The 1999 spring footballcalendar continues on Wednesday, March 24with a two-hour practice in shells, beginning at 3 p.m. at the GreentreePractice Facility.
