CORAL GABLES Fla.- The University of Miami Women’s Tennis team will be back in action this weekend with matches against the University of North Florida and Clemson.

The matches will take place this Saturday and Sunday  at 11 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. respectively. The UNF match will kick off an eight-match home stand at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center that will encompass the first three weeks of March.

The No. 10 Hurricanes, with a 5-1 record this year; have jumped up four spots in the rankings since the beginning of the season. They are coming off a 5-2 win against ACC rival Florida State and are primed to hit the courts hard with all but one of their next eight opponents currently ranked in the top-75.

Seniors Anna Bartenstein and Gabriela Mejia have been impressive so far this season.  Bartenstein currently sits at No.12 in the individual rankings, up three spots since the beginning of the year.  However, Mejia has been the one turning heads.  At No. 2 in the lineup, she is still undefeated through seven matches and has yet to drop a set all season.  She has moved all the way up from 39th to 25th in the rankings.

Freshman Lina Lileikite has cracked into the rankings.  The newcomer is currently tied at 119th and is a perfect 7-0 on the year at the No. 3 individuals spot for the Hurricanes.

The UNF Ospreys have played only three opponents this year, and are 1-2 in those matches, with one of their losses coming at the hands of Florida State.

The No. 34 Clemson Tigers will feature three players currently ranked in the top-125, with senior Keri Wong at No. 76, sophomore Klara Vyskocilova at No. 90 and junior Nelly Ciolkowski at No. 103.  The team got off to a hot start winning their first six matches, but have dropped four of their last five to make their record 7-4 coming into this weekend’s match against the Canes.
