CORAL GABLES, Fla. — The Monday Morning ProCanes report will weed through all the NFL highlights and news to bring you the information you care about the most… what the former University of Miami Hurricanes did during the week prior. Despite the end of the legendary streak, Week 13 proved to be a milestone week for the Pro Canes; Frank Gore became the all-time leading rusher in San Francisco 49ers history in his team’s victory over St. Louis, while Jimmy Graham became the first Hurricane tight end to record a 1,000-yard season since 2007. As veteran Pro Canes continued their strong play across the league, one rookie kept up his torrid pace to the 2011 NFL campaign.

Colin McCarthy (Tennessee Titans) – 9 tackles, 2 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery
A week after recording a game-ending interception against Tampa Bay, the rookie middle linebacker was once again at the heart of a Tennessee victory on Sunday. McCarthy, who led the Titans in tackles for the third straight week, forced a fumble of Buffalo quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick and jumped on it himself for the first of his two fumble recoveries on the day. The fourth-round pick, who has racked up 37 tackles over his past four games, now ranks tenth among rookies in tackles (42) despite only three starts in his first NFL season.

Frank Gore (San Francisco 49ers) – 21 carries, 73 yards
On the verge of his first 1,000-yard season since 2009 (982), the seventh-year running back had a marquee performance in his team’s 26-0 victory of St. Louis. Gore, who became the leading rusher in San Franciso history with his 73-yard performance, now has an impressive 7,396 career rushing yards, all coming in a San Francisco uniform. The Miami native, who needed only 22 yards to pass Joe “The Jet” Perry for the franchise lead, will also be making his playoff debut this season, as the 49ers clinched a spot in the postseason with yesterday’s shutout win.

Willis McGahee (Denver Broncos) – 20 carries, 111 yards, 1 touchdown
Though quarterback play has been a key factor in the team’s turnaround at Mile High, the play of Denver’s veteran running back has been an equally important force for the Broncos. McGahee, who ran for 117 yards last week against San Diego, ran for 111 yards in his team’s 35-32 victory over Minnesota. The ninth-year running back, who has posted six 100-yard games so far in 2011, officially stretched the Pro Canes new touchdown streak to two consecutive weeks (and 151 of the last 152) with a clutch 24-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

Jimmy Graham (New Orleans Saints) – 8 catches, 89 yards
Graham, who has emerged among the NFL elite in only his second year playing professional football, became the first Hurricane tight end to record a 1,000-yard season since Kellen Winslow (2007) with his 89-yard output against Detroit on Sunday night. Graham, who ranks fifth in receiving yardage (1,046) and second in receptions (75) among all pass-catchers, became the first New Orleans Saints tight end to ever top the 1,000-yard mark in a single season. The sophomore’s receiving yardage, reception total and yards per game average (87.2) also ranks first among all NFL tight ends.

Heading into the NFL opening week, UM led all colleges with 42 alums on active NFL Rosters.
