Two Football Standouts Elect to Forego Final Year of Eligibility

Dec. 5, 2011

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – After four years spent with the University of Miami Hurricanes, two football standouts  will leave the university with a year of eligibility remaining to join the ranks of professional football.

Junior wide receiver Tommy Streeter and junior defensive tackle Marcus Forston, both of whom joined the Hurricanes in 2008 after esteemed careers at local Miami Northwestern High School, have decided to forego their final year of eligibility with the university as candidates for the upcoming NFL Draft.

Streeter, who exploded for a team-leading 46 receptions and 811 yards in his junior campaign, finished first in the Atlantic Coast Conference among receivers with 40 or more receptions with an average of 17.6 yards per catch. His average of 67.6 receiving yards led the team and ranked fifth in the ACC, while his eight touchdown receptions led the Canes and tied for fourth-best in the conference.

Forston, who was named a Freshman All-American by multiple publications after a stellar first year with the Hurricanes, battled injuries for two of his final three years at Miami. The defensive lineman, who suffered early season-ending injuries in 2009 and 2011, recorded a career-high 37 tackles in 2010, including the second-most tackles for loss on the team (12). He ends his 31-game career at Miami with 60 tackles, 17.5 tackles for loss, and seven sacks.
