Pair of Canes Successful at Clay Court Invitational

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Omar Aly and Victor Mauz were both successful on their first day at the Clay Court Invitational in Lakewood Ranch, Fla.
Sophomore Omar Aly won both of his matches today. He defeated Oklahoma State’s Eric West in three sets, 0-6, 6-1 and 6-2 and Temple’s Philip Rams in straight sets 6-1 and 6-4. He will face Oklahoma State’s Vlad Bondarenko tomorrow.
Freshman Victor Mauz won his first match today against Virginia’s Philippe Oudshoom, 6-2 and 7-6. In his second match of the day he lost to Ole Miss’ Marcel Thielman 6-3 and 6-2.
Senior Santiago Nieto lost his first match of the day 6-2 and 6-0 to Virginia’s Justin Shane.
Play will continue tomorrow at the Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club.
