Women's Tennis Concludes Play at USTA/ITA Southeast Regionals

Gainesville, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s tennis team wrapped up play at the USTA/ITA Southeast Regionals on Sunday at the Ring Tennis Complex on the campus of the University of Florida.

University of Miami head coach Paige Yaroshuk-Tews had two members of her squad in action Sunday as senior Anna Bartenstein took part in the quarterfinals of the main draw, and sophomore Brittany Dubins competed in the quarters of the consolation draw.

Dubins earned the win in the quarterfinals with a 7-6(2), 6-1 defeat of crosstown opponent Giulietta Boha of FIU. The sophomore had her run end in the semifinals after a loss to Leyla Erkan of Florida State on scores of 6-3, 7-5. Dubins finishes the weekend having bumped her record for the year out to 5-6.

As for Bartenstein, her run through the main draw came to a close after a three-set thriller against 73rd-ranked Sofie Oyen of the University of Florida. Bartenstein fell in the quarterfinals on scores of 2-6, 6-4, 6-1. The Graz, Austria native ranked No. 25 in the ITA preseason poll now holds a record of 14-4 in the fall.

Miami will get back to action next weekend when it takes part in the LA Quad Tournament in Los Angeles beginning Friday, Oct. 28.
