Anna Bartenstein Ends Run at Riviera/ITA Tourney

Pacific Palisades, Calif.Anna Bartenstein of the University of Miami women’s tennis team ended her run in the 2011 Riviera/ITA All-American Championships on Saturday afternoon, falling in straight sets in the semifinals of the consolation singles bracket. The event took place at the Riviera Country Club.

Bartenstein, a senior ranked No. 25 in the nation, fell in straight sets, 6-4, 6-0 to 26th-ranked Joanna Mather of Florida. Mather advances to the championship match of the consolation bracket where she will take on Mallory Burdette of Stanford.

After ending the tournament with a record of 5-2, Bartenstein is now 11-3 on the fall season.

The next fall event for the UMiami women’s tennis team will be Oct. 21 when the Hurricanes travel to the USTA/ITA Southeast Regional Championships in Gainesville, Fla. The University of Florida will host the event.
