Anna Bartenstein Advances Into ITA Round of 16

Pacific Palisades, Calif. – University of Miami senior Anna Bartenstein has moved into the Round of 16 at the 2011 Riviera/ITA All-American Championships after a pair of singles wins Tuesday afternoon at the Riviera Country Club.
Bartenstein – the third-seeded player in the qualifying bracket and 25th-ranked player nationally -opened the tournament by pulling away from Michigan’s 62nd-ranked Brooke Bolender, 6-4, 6-1.
In her second match of the day, the senior from Graz, Austria took down Santa Clara’s 86th-ranked Katie Le in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.
Bartenstein will now face Georgia’s 56th-ranked Maho Kowase on Wednesday. Kowase defeated UCLA’s Pamela Montez to earn her trip into the Round of 16.
Bartenstein has now won 24 of her last 27 singles matches, including an 8-1 mark this fall.
Eight of the 64 players competing in the singles qualifying tournament will earn the right to compete in the main draw bracket. In addition, singles quarterfinalists and consolation champions will receive automatic entry into the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships, held Nov. 3-6 in Flushing, N.Y.
