Spring Game & Championship Weekends Coming in April

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami has finalized initial details for the 2011 BankUnited CanesFest and Football Spring Game. The ‘Canes will conclude the spring practice schedule with a free-to-the-public scrimmage at Lockhart Stadium on April 16 at Noon Eastern.
Parking for the April 16th scrimmage will open at 8:30 a.m. on the South side of the stadium and will be free of charge. Tailgating is allowed. Gates A & B will open at 9:30 a.m. There will be a reception for Hurricane Club and Football Club members from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. as well as a player autograph session under the West bleachers from 10 – 11 a.m.

The UM Athletics Department is planning back-to-back Championship Weekends as well this spring. UM will honor the 2001 Baseball National Championship team during the home series against NC State April 8-10 and will honor the 2001 Football National Championship team during the 2011 BankUnited CanesFest and Spring Game.

The Miami Hurricanes begin the first spring season under head coach Al Golden on Saturday at 9 a.m. All practices are closed to the public, but Golden has opened up every spring scrimmage and is taking the events on the road.
UM will play its April 2 BankUnited Canes Fest scrimmage at Spanish River High School in Palm Beach County at 10 a.m. The second scrimmage will be played on April 9 at Traz Powell Stadium, in Miami-Dade county, at 10 a.m. These event are also free and open to the public.
