CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The eighth-ranked University of Miami women’s tennis team swept UCF, 7-0, in a non-conference match at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center Sunday afternoon.

Miami (7-2) opened the match winning the doubles point before picking up straight set wins in all six singles matches. The win UM’s sixth straight at home to open the season.

For the first time all season head coach Paige Yaroshuk-Tews opted to roll out four freshmen in the team’s singles line-up, with Melissa Bolivar, Kayla Rizzolo, Brittany Dubins and Bistra Otashliyska all playing in positions three through six. Tenth-ranked senior Bianca Eichkorn and 63rd-ranked junior Anna Bartenstein played in UM’s top two singles spots.

“It feels good that we were able to play freshmen at three through six and come out with a 7-0 win,” head coach Paige Yaroshuk-Tews said. “That is a part of being a great team. We were able to rest a couple players and everyone stepped up and played well.

“Everyone on this roster will be relied upon at some point this season,” Yaroshuk-Tews added. “Today was a good test of putting some of our girls in pressure situations.”

Miami clinched the first point after wins in all three doubles positions. When singles play got underway, Eichkorn quickly made it 2-0 with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Jenny Frisell at No. 1 before Otashliyska, Bartenstein and Rizzolo followed to secure the victory.
