Miami Moves Up to No. 12 in New Polls Released Tuesday

CORAL GABLES, Fla.– The University of Miami football team moved up one spot in both the AP and USA Today Coaches Poll, jumping from No. 13 to No. 12 after its season-opening blowout win over Florida A&M. The Hurricanes are now the highest rank team in the Atlantic Coast Conference, passing Virginia Tech who fell to No. 13 in both polls after its loss to Boise State Monday night.
The Hurricanes turned in their first shut-out since 2006 with their 45-0 win over FAMU on Sept. 2. This weekend, Miami will travel to No. 2 Ohio State for a match-up with the Buckeyes on Sept. 11 at Ohio Stadium.
Alabama, Ohio State and Boise State are ranked first, second and third in both polls. TCU and is ranked fourth by the AP and fifth by the coaches, while Texas is fifth in the AP poll and fourth in the coaches.
Kick-off between Miami and Ohio State is slated for 3:40 p.m. The game will be televised live on ESPN.
