Coral Gables, Fla. – The Hurricane Club is proud to announce the first-ever “Canes Carnivale” interactive festival taking place Sat., Aug. 28, in the Basketball Field House and H-100 parking lot at the BankUnited Center on the UM campus in Coral Gables, Fla.
The event, which runs from 10:30 a.m. through 1 p.m., will feature a variety of activities for Hurricane Club members to enjoy while interacting with their favorite Hurricanes student-athletes from all UM sports. Admission for all Hurricane Club members is free, while they may bring up to four guests with them to enjoy the event. In addition, non-Hurricane Club members whom would like to attend the event may join the Hurricane Club for a one-time, special offer of just $10.
Taking place in the H-100 parking lot, located in the southwest corner of the BankUnited Center parking lot, fans can try and “strike-out” the baseball team, while also competing in an obstacle course against the men’s and women’s cross country and track & field teams. Fans can test their skills with the `Canes football team in throwing skills and mini-combine workout.
In the Basketball Field House, fans can go one-on-one in open basketball drills against the men’s and women’s basketball teams, as well as time themselves in a simulated rowing race on a time machine with the rowing squad. The soccer team will hold a pass & shoot drill including a mini goal, while volleyball will host a relay race with a “Hurricane” twist to it.
The golf team will have a putting green outside in the H-100 breezeway with prizes available. The swimming & diving team will also have a booth in the breezeway, featuring a duck pond with prizes available to winners as well.
Additionally, the `Canes nationally recognized men’s and women’s tennis teams will each participate in activities of their own.
And don’t forget about the spirit of the Hurricanes – the cheerleaders and Sunsations, as they will be doing face painting for children of all ages in the H-100 breezeway as well. Sebastian the Ibis will also be on hand at all venues for photo opportunities, as well as participating in a few events of his choosing.
Enjoy the UM Marching Band – the Band of the Hour, a pep rally, music and more. Come out and kickoff the 2010 fall sports season for the University of Miami Hurricanes in style.
All Hurricane Club members must RSVP by emailing the Hurricane Club at hurricaneclub@miami.edu.
