Miami Football Opens Camp in Preparation for 2010 Season

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami football team opened its 2010 fall camp Thursday morning with a spirited two-hour practice session under warm conditions on the Greentree Practice Fields.
With the season-opener against Florida A&M just 28 days out, the Hurricanes took to the practice fields in preparation for what proves to be a memorable season in South Florida. The Hurricanes looked sharp despite a heat index that nearly reached triple-digits before 10 a.m.

Jacory Harris stood out offensively for the `Canes, connecting on long passes to LaRon Byrd, Richard Gordon and Leonard Hankerson. Damien Berry stood out in the running game, scoring on a pair of goal line drills in addition to a few big runs in 11-on-11 action.
Defensively, Sean Spence and Marcus Robinson recovered fumbles for touchdowns, while Micanor Regis had a tackle for a loss and Adewale Ojomo recorded a big sack.
Other highlights included big passes from Alonzo Highsmith to Chase Ford and Stephen Morris to Tommy Streeter, while Brandon McGee stood out in the secondary with a pair of crucial pass breakups.
The `Canes will hold their annual preseason media day Thursday afternoon in the Hecht Athletic Center. The team will return to practice early Friday morning for a closed session at the Greentree Practice Fields.
