Jacory Harris Press Conference Quotes
Nov. 3, 2009
On first four games vs. last four games…
I know I can get better, but looking at the season we have come through with some big victories and as long as I am playing well enough for us to win. I just need to get better.
On his decision making…
For the most part, I am doing okay. One of the interceptions was costly last week [against Clemson] but besides that, none have been in really bad situations.
On evaluating himself on tape…
It’s good to evaluate where I should have gone on certain passes, both completed and not completed, to see where I need to get better. Sometimes the receivers will come through and watch too.
On what he is seeing on his interceptions…
It’s been a common thing. Most of them look the same, with the same blitz, same coverage and the same route. They have been on blitzes. When we are running something, I need to make sure I do the opposite of what I have been doing.
On remembering last year’s UVA game…
It was an exciting game and my team really rallied behind me. It was a key 95-yard drive and we wanted it the most on that last drive.
On the game two years ago vs. UVA…
I was there. By the time I got into the stadium, it was already 21-0. It isn’t that much about revenge, because you go out and fight every week either way.
On Virginia’s defensive scheme…
I think they are the only ACC team to run a 3-4 defense. It is something you see in the pros, like with the Steelers. It will be different and a challenge. They are like fifth in the nation in pass defense. So, it’s going to be a challenge.
On playing at noon…
We did it last year and adjusted well. It will be hot because of the sun. Hopefully, it doesn’t rain and we will have a good game. We want the students to come out.
On if he has a favorite receiver…
I like to get it to everybody. Even the o-line wants the ball. I want to keep it going and get better. None of the receivers ask for anything. If it comes to them, it comes to them. Thearon Collier has been patient all year and he had a great game last week. When it’s their time to shine, then it’s their time.
On the comfort level with the offense…
I am very comfortable with them right now. I don’t need to make a lot of noise in the huddle, we all communicate well on and off the field.
On the practice time change…
Meeting at 6:40 [in the morning] feels a lot better than 5 a.m. in the morning. I think it will keep us fresh for the game.
On changing the mentality this weekend…
We need to go back to how we started off the year. We have some injuries but that happens and we need to fight through it. We have depth at every position.
On the maturity of the team…
Everybody is mature. We are very focused and go out there and have fun.
On reading message boards…
I don’t have a subscription so I can’t even read it. As long as I am good with my teammates that is all that matters to me.
On winning over the fans…
The fans expect nothing but the best. We wish we were 8-0, but we are 6-2 right now and we still got a long season ahead and we need to win games.
On how he is holding up physically…
I’m not really beat up. People always call me too skinny, but I have survived taking hits this far. I just need to be tough.
