UM Football to Participate in Relay for Life Friday

Coral Gables, Fla. – Members of the University of Miami football team will participate in Relay for Life to benefit the American Cancer Society Friday at the Miami Dade Job Corps Center from 6 p.m.- 9 p.m.

UM head coach Randy Shannon and select players and staff members will be on hand for the event. The Miami Dade Job Corps Center is located at 3050 NW 183 St., Miami Gardens, Fla. The Hurricanes will be teamed with Commissioner Barbara Jordan and the District 1 staff. Hurricane players will be on hand to interact with the participants as well as take photos as they make laps for the American Cancer Society.

Relay for Life is the American Cancer Society’s signature activity. It offers everyone in a community an opportunity to participate in the fight against cancer. Teams of people camp out at a local high school, college, park or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Relays are an overnight event, up to 24 hours in length. Teams of people from all walks of life have fun while raising much-needed funds to fight cancer and raise awareness of cancer prevention and treatment.
