  • TODAY’S CAPTAINS… Today’s captains for Miami are Jason Fox, Glenn Cook and Chavez Grant.
  • GAME DELAY… The start of today’s game was delayed 13 minutes due to lightning. The original 3:45 p.m. kick-off was moved to 3:58 p.m.
  • GETTING DEFENSIVE… Miami’s defense held UCF to 4 yards rushing and just 78 yards of total offense. The 4 rushing yards is the lowest total allowed since Sept. 4, 2006 when UM held Florida State to one yard rushing on 25 carries. The 78 yards of total offence is the least allowed since Nov. 20, 1999 when Rutgers recorded just 64 yards of total offense.
  • DON’T BLINK… Miami opened today’s scoring with an 8 play, 68 yard touchdown drive that took only 2:55 off the clock and later recorded a one-play five yard drive in just seven seconds in the fourth quarter. 14 of UM’s 18 offensive touchdowns this season have come on drives of three minutes or shorter, with seven of those TDs coming in under 36 seconds.

  • CARRYING THE LOAD… Miami sophomore running back Graig Cooper recorded a career-high 23 carries for 90 yards against UCF. His previous high for carries was 19 versus North Carolina earlier this year.
  • MORE ON COOPER… Graig Cooper’s five-yard TD run in the fourth quarter marked his team leading six touchdown of the season (four rushing, one receiving, one punt return). The six touchdowns are the most in a season for a Hurricane since 2005 when Tyrone Moss and Sinorice Moss scored 12 and six touchdowns respectively.
  • SACK ATTACK… Miami recorded five sacks against UCF marking a season-high for the Hurricanes. The previous high for Miami was three (Charleston Southern, Texas A&M).
  • HOME COOKING… Miami senior linebacker Glenn Cook tied a career-high with 10 tackles against UCF matching his total against Duke in 2006.
  • IT’S ALL ABOUT THE BENJAMINS… True freshman Travis Benjamin recorded his third career touchdown in the first quarter, a 25-yard TD receptions from Robert Marve. Benjamin, who scored his first two touchdowns last week against Florida State has now recorded three of Miami’s last five offensive touchdowns and three of Miami’s last six touchdowns overall.
  • FIRST IMPRESSIONS… Today’s game marked the first meeting between Miami and UCF. The Hurricanes are now 15-1 since 1991 when facing a school for the first time.
  • OCTOBERFEST… Since 2000, the Hurricanes are 25-7 during the month of October.
  • SUNSHINE STATE OPPONENTS… The Hurricanes have won 17 of their last 21 games versus Sunshine State opponents since 2000, including a 11-2 mark at home.
  • IN THE ZONE… Miami scored on its lone trip to the UCF red-zone against UCF. The Hurricanes are a near-perfect 20-of-22 in the red zone on offense this season.
  • FIRST QUARTER DOMINANCE… Miami has dominated the opening quarter at Dolphin Stadium this year. The Hurricanes shutout UCF 10-0 in the first quarter marking the third time in four home games that the Hurricanes have shutout an opponent at home in the opening quarter. Miami has outscored its opponents 45-7 in the opening quarter at home this season.
  • BARNEY SEES FIRST ACTION… Junior offensive lineman Chris Barney (No. 79) saw his first action of the season on Matt Bosher’s first quarter field goal. The Miami Northwestern graduate had been sidelined with a leg injury.
  • INT FOR TD… UCF’s Johnell Neal returned an interception 62-yards for a touchdown marking the first UM opponent to return a INT for touchdown since Toddrick Verdell (FSU) in 2007. It also marked the longest INT for TD since Dec. 7 2002 when Virginia Tech’s Willie Pile returned an interception 96-yards for touchdown in a 56-45 Miami victory.
