Hurricanes Work Out In Shells for First Time Monday
Aug. 4, 2008
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – After two days of working in helmets and shorts, the University of Miami football team worked out in shells for the first time Monday morning during the team’s third practice of the fall at the Greentree Practice Fields.
The Hurricanes continued to work in 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 situations, in addition to some 9-on-9 red zone drills. Working through temperatures in the lower-to-mid 80’s, the team practiced in favorable conditions with a steady wind and cloudy skies throughout the morning.
“We got a lot of running work in today,” head coach Randy Shannon said. “When you’re in shorts, everybody looks good because we play without contact but today we were able to get some stuff corrected.
“It was a good tempo, a good practice,” Shannon added. “We worked hard on the running game and the play-action passing game today.”
Shannon noted early on in fall practice, he is looking for his quarterbacks to work on time management.
“With the new clock change and the way it is now, they have to be able to run the offense without panicking. They have to be able to be calm, stay calm, get in and out of the huddle and set the plays. As long as they don’t give us a negative play and they execute the offense, we’ll be fine.”
Fans can order tickets for the 2008 season, starting at just $99, by visiting www.hurricanesports.com or by calling the UM ticket office at (800) GO-CANES or (305) 284-CANE.
