The University of Miami football team practiced for the second straight day, as the Hurricanes gear up for their second road game of the season. Miami will travel to Chapel Hill, N.C. for its Atlantic Coast Conference road opener against North Carolina.
“Today was a good Wednesday practice,” UM head coach Randy Shannon said. “We had no injuries and the guys practiced hard. We had better practice enthusiasm today than we did yesterday.”
Miami (4-1, 1-0 ACC) is riding a three-game winning streak and is coming off a 24-14 home win over Duke last Saturday. Junior defensive end Calais Campbell earned ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week honors and freshman running back Graig Cooper was named the ACC Rookie of the Week. The Hurricanes’ lone loss was on the road on Sept. 8 at No. 6 Oklahoma. Miami is 7-5 in road ACC games in three seasons.
“We need an ACC victory,” Shannon said. “It would be good to get a road victory because it would be the first one, but more important, it’s an ACC game. We’re very enthusiastic about going out and playing this week.”
Miami will hold its final practice of the week at the Greentree Practice Fields Thursday afternoon. The Hurricanes will travel to Chapel Hill on Friday.
