Hurricane Legends Golf Classic Is Set For February 20 At Deering Bay

MIAMI, FL – Looking to play a fabulous, private golf course, mingle with past and present sports stars, and help raise money for student-athlete scholarships? The University of Miami Hurricane Club has the answer for you.

UM Hurricane Club officials have announced that their annual Hurricane Legends Golf Classic will be held at the prestigious Deering Bay Yacht & Country Club, 13610 Deering Bay Dr., on Monday, February 20 (President’s Day).

The day at Deering Bay will start with registration for the golf tournament at 10:30 a.m., followed by lunch and conclude with a gala awards dinner with live and silent auctions. All proceeds from the event will be earmarked for the UM Athletic Department’s student-athlete scholarship fund.

UM stars who have played in the event in the past include Twan Russell, Brett Romberg, Andre King, Ryan Clement, George Mira, Gino Torretta, UM coaches from all sports, and dozens of others.

“We’re really excited about this year’s event,” said Hurricane Club President-Elect and Golf Tournament Co-Chairman Harry Rothwell. “We’ve got a little something for everyone…the rare opportunity to play a great golf course, the chance to get up-close and personal with past and present UM athletes and coaches, great auction items like trips, weekend getaways and one of a kind sports memorabilia. The best thing is we’re raising money to help keep UM one of the premier athletic programs in the nation.”

The golf tournament opens with a shotgun start at noon. The dinner and auction event is planed for 5:30 P.M. Individual playing spots, foursomes, and sponsorships are available.
