- The Hurricanes will be making their 21st appearance at the College World Series in Omaha. UM is now tied with Southern California for the second most appearances behind Texas’ 31.
- Miami is now 78-11 in postseason games at Mark Light Field and 153-68 all time in postseason play.
- The Hurricanes have now won 26 of their last 27 postseason games at Mark Light Field. The streak dates back to a 6-5 loss to North Carolina in the 1998 Atlantic Regional. UM’s only loss during that streak is a 15-5 defeat to Florida on June 1, 2003.
- Cesar Carrillo improved to 11-0 on the season and lowered his ERA to 2.73.
- Miami is 15-0 when Carrillo starts a game and 18-0 when he makes an appearance.
- Florida’s 5-4-3 double play in the first inning broke UF’s school record for double plays in a single season. The previous record was 74 in the 2001 season.
- Richard Giannotti’s fifth inning home run was his fifth of the season and proved to be the game-winning hit.
- Jim Burt’s sacrifice fly RBI in the eighth inning was his 72 RBI of the season, tying him for the ninth most single season RBI in school history. He is tied with Chris Hart who had 72 RBI during the 1984 season.
- Roger Tomas hit .625 (5 for 8) in two games against Florida. He is hitting .444 (8 for 18) in Miami’s five postseason games.
- Miami will play the winner of the LSU/Texas A&M Super Regional on Saturday, June 19 at Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha, Neb. The game time is yet to be determined.
