Hurricane Cornerback Antrel Rolle to Return for His Senior Season

CORAL GABLES, Fla. — After consulting with his family and University of Miami Head Football Coach Larry Coker, Hurricane cornerback Antrel Rolle announced today that he will remain in school for his senior season.

In making the announcement Rolle said, “After evaluating the situation with my family and Coach Coker, I have decided to remain at the University of Miami for my senior season and work towards getting my degree. I look forward to providing leadership to the team, and I am confident we will continue UM’s history of excellence.”

“I am elated that Antrel has decided to return for his senior season, and continue his studies toward his degree,” Coker said. “He is an exceptional person and player and will provide leadership as we begin our first season in the Atlantic Coast Conference.”

The 6’1′, 200 lb. Rolle, is a two-year starter at cornerback for the Hurricanes and was selected first-team All-Big East this past season.

In 2003, he was credited with 51 tackles (42 solo), two interceptions and seven pass breakups. Additionally, Rolle was used to return punts, averaging 15.6 yards per return, including a 66-yard return for a touchdown against Louisiana Tech on August 28. Rolle is a native of Homestead, Fla., and a graduate of South Dade High School.
