Football Players To Play In Charity Softball Game

Members of the University of Miami football team will participate in an annual Charity Softball Game on Saturday, May 3, at 7 p.m. at Pioneer Park in Deerfield Beach.

Among the Hurricanes playing will be Derrick Crudup, Brock Berlin, Kellen Winslow, and Joel Rodriguez. Last season, the event included approximately 30 players and 25 business people from South Florida.

Players will be available before the game to sign autographs and there will be limited player availability during the game itself.

There will also be a sports memorabilia silent auction and a raffle.Broward County police officer Butch Santy, one of the event’s organizers, estimates that the fundraiser impacts “thousands of kids.”

The Hurricanes will play the Community Business All Stars. Funds raised from the game will go to benefit youth programs in Deerfield Beach including the youth Police Athletic League. The proceeds from last year’s event went to DARE.

Pre-game activities begin at 5 p.m. and game time is at 7 p.m. Tickets for the event are $1.00.
