Hurricane Football Teaming Up with 'Canes on Patrol'

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Several members of the Miami Hurricanes football team will be teaming up with this summer with the Broward County Sheriff’s Office for the annual “Canes on Patrol” program.

The 2003 summer marks the seventh straight year the University of Miami football team and the BSO office joined forces to help promote law enforcement and good citizenship.

This Friday, July 11 and Saturday, July 12, a group of players including Eric Winston, Vernon Carey, Marc Guillon and Kelly Jennings will participate in a “ride along” with the Sheriff’s office and help assist in the day-to-day duties. The group of players will first meet at the Deerfield Beach substation at 6 p.m. for the nightly briefing and then do the ride along from 7 p.m. to midnight.

The ride along program with the Broward Sheriff’s Office started on June 27th and will continue through July 19th. The Deerfield Beach Substation (954.480.4300) is located at 300 Northeast Second Street.
