May 12, 2003

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami Baseball team has added a game with Savannah State on Saturday, May 17th, with a double header scheduled for 5 p.m. and moved the Sunday with the Tigers game to a Noon first pitch.

The Hurricanes have a 33-13-1 record and are currently ranked 15th by Collegiate Baseball. UM will play a four-game series with Savannah State to make up a rainout with Rutgers on March 15th.

Savannah State and Miami were originally scheduled to play one game on Saturday at 7 p.m., but the two teams will now play two seven-inning games starting at 5 p.m. at Mark Light Field. The second game will follow 40 minutes after the conclusion of game one.

Sunday’s game, which was scheduled for 1 p.m., was moved up to noon to account for Savannah State’s travel schedule.

The series will start on Friday with a 7 p.m. contest at “The Light” with J.D. Cockroft (8-2, 2.13 ERA) going to the mound for the Hurricanes.

Miami will then close out the regular-season portion of its schedule on May 22-24 at Long Beach State.
