Football Practice Report - Thursday, April 3

April 3, 2003

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – The Miami Hurricanes football team practiced for 90 minutes Thursday afternoon as the Hurricanes continued the third week of spring practice at Greentree Practice Field on the University of Miami campus.

“We’re looking forward to Saturday’s scrimmage and seeing about 15,000 diehard Hurricanes fans at the Orange Bowl,” said head coach Larry Coker. “It’s been a good week for us. I’m encouraged by what I’ve seen. I like where we are as a team right now. We’ve got a lot of work to do, but I like this football team and the way they approach their business.”

The Hurricanes practiced in shorts on Thursday, focusing on group play as both the offense and defense before ending the day working on the two-minute drill. Coker reported that tailback Frank Gore is questionable for Saturday’s scrimmage with a bruised shoulder.

Thursday’s practice was the 11th of 15 sessions that will conclude on Friday, April 11. The Hurricanes will take Friday off before their second major scrimmage of the spring, part of Saturday’s practice at the Orange Bowl.

The Hurricanes will host the Fox Sports Net CanesFest at the Orange Bowl this Saturday. The practice is set to begin at 10 a.m., but gates will open at 9 a.m. so that fans may arrive early to secure 2003 season tickets. In addition to the game, there will be an autograph session and a question-and-answer session for fans with head football coach Larry Coker. For further information on Miami football tickets, call 1-800-GO-CANES.

The autograph session will take place approximately 20 minutes following the scrimmage and will last approximately 30 minutes. Only one item per person will be permitted. Fox Sports Net Florida will televise CanesFest 2003 beginning at 10:30 a.m. this Saturday.
