Football Practice Report - Wed., Sept. 4

Sept. 4, 2002

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami football team continued preparations for the much anticipated clash with Florida with practice Wednesday at Greentree Practice Fields on the Coral Gables campus.

“We had a much better day today,” Miami coach Larry Coker said. ” We practiced really well and we were really efficient on offense. We flew around pretty well. We’re starting to get our legs back and practiced fast. It’s certainly very, very encouraging. I think that we’re a pretty healthy football team and I think that we’ll eventually take our best to Gainesville.”

Tailback Jarrett Payton, cornerback Kelly Jennings and punter Freddie Capshaw – all of whom have been injured lately – all practiced with the team and Coker expects them to be ready for use Saturday in Gainesville.

Saturday’s clash between the Hurricanes and Gators will be the 51st renewal in the storied football history between the two schools. The series is tied at 25-25.
