Scenes from Gainesville: The Diary of Danny Figueroa

May 29, 2002

Hey fans. My name is Danny Figueroa and I was presented with the opportunity to keep a diary of our activities as well as my thoughts while on the road.

For those of you who haven’t heard by now, we are on our way up to Gainesville Florida for the 2002 Regional Tournament. Coach Morris has scheduled a practice today for 1 pm. At 3 pm, we’ll be leaving by bus to Gainesville. It should take us about 6 hours to get there, if we don’t stop anywhere. I hope we do. 6 hours is a long time to be on a bus.

Well, we’re getting ready for practice. I’ll write again once we get to the hotel.

It’s 11 pm, as I’m writing this ending to tonight’s journal. We’re staying at the Sheridan Hotel. It’s about 5 minutes away from McKethan Stadium. It’s a pretty nice room. From our balcony, we’ve got a view of the lake. From what one of the people in the lobby told me, there are some alligators in that lake that some of the staff feed. They said that you could see them from your hotel. Somehow, I think that’s something I won’t be doing.

I’m getting ready for bed now. We’ve got a big day in the morning.
