Hurricane Football Golf Classic

The Hurricane Football Golf Classic was held at Don Shula’s GolfResort, Tuesday, February 12, 2002. It was a beautiful day for golf andagreat time was had by all in attendance. Head Football Coach LarryCokerand the University of Miami Hurricane Club would like to thank everyonewhoparticipated in the Hurricane Football Golf Classic. More than 120golfers competed with a host of current and former Hurricane players includingHeisman-trophy winner Gino Torretta, George Mira Sr., Steve Walsh,GeorgeMira Jr., Ken Dorsey, Brett Romberg and Sherko Haji-Rasouli.
The Hurricane Club would also like to thank title sponsorQualityCommunications of Florida Inc., for their outstanding support ofHurricaneAthletics.
Finally, thanks to all sponsors for their unprecedented level ofsupport. All proceeds benefit the Hecht Center Facility ImprovementProject.We have completed Phase I of the construction, which consists of theweightroom, meeting rooms, head coach’s office, and the athletic lounge. Wearecurrently in Phase II which consists of locker rooms for Women’s Soccer,Men’s and Women’s Track, Women’s Volleyball, officials locker rooms, andthebig team meeting room. The funding from this event will help tocompleteour goal of 4.5 million. This contribution is a major asset in ourcontinuing efforts to win national championships on and off the playingfield.
