Chat With Joaquin Gonzalez
Jan. 8, 2002
On Friday, Miami Hurricane offensive tackle, Joaquin Gonzalez will stop by to talk about his season and playing in Saturday’s East-West Shrine game.
Gonzalez, a senior from Miami, was a mainstay on Miami’s outstanding offensive line the past four seasons and set a Miami record for career starts with his 49th start in the Rose Bowl against Nebraska. Despite being overshadowed by Miami’s Outland Trophy winner Bryant McKinnie, he was named a First-Team All-American by the Football Writers Association of America and was a First-Team All-BIG EAST selection by the league’s head coaches. He was a Second-Team All-America selection by The Sporting News and ABC Sports Online.
Gonzalez has allowed only two quarterback sacks in his college career (49 games) and none this season. Gonzalez helped Miami rush for 2,404 yards and the team’s offense averaged 454.2 yards per game. The team capped their perfect season with a dominating 37-14 win over Nebraska in the Rose Bowl.
Gonzalez will join us Friday at 11 a.m. ET. Feel free to drop him some questions now and we’ll save them for his arrival.
