5 UM Players To Join Coker at Big East Football Media Day

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – University of Miami football players Najeh Davenport, Joaquin Gonzalez, Bryant McKinnie, Edward Reed, and Mike Rumph will join head coach Larry Coker at the 2001 BIG EAST Football Media Day Thursday, July 26, at the Meadowlands.

The five UM gridders will represent the Hurricanes at the event that marks the official beginning of the league’s 2001 season. Stars representing Miami’s seven BIG EAST football opponents will be joining the Hurricanes at the media gala.

Entering its 11th season of competition in the BIG EAST, Miami is looking to build on a successful tradition in conference play this season. Since starting BIG EAST play in 1991, UM has won or shared five league football titles (more than any other Big East institution) while winning more games (52) in league play and compiling the league’s best winning percentage (.839, 52-10).
