Hurricanesports.com And The Miami Herald Field Goal Kick Contest

Winners of the hurricanesports.com catch, run and kick contest were TommyThompson, Artis Worthen and Jaime Cross respectively. The winner of twosideline passes to a UM football game went to Jaime Coombs. The winnerswere chosen randomly by filling out or mailing in the hurricanesports.comfootball survey. All three contestants took part in the contest after theconclusion of FOX Sports Net CanesFest 2001 at the Orange Bowl on April 7th.Tommy Thompson had the opportunity to catch a pass from UM quarterback KenDorsey, Jaime Cross challenged UM kicker Todd Sievers to a field goalcontest while Artis Worthen raced again speed demon and UM receiver DarylJones in the 40-yard dash.
After the conclusion of the hurricanesports.com contests, The Miami HeraldField Goal Kick contestant was chosen. Carlos Hernandez’s name was randomlychosen to kick a 25-yard field goal to win the Soul of Sports Fan Packcourtesy of The Miami Herald. Even though the kick was unsuccessful, Carloswalked away with some great UM merchandise.
