Hurricanes "Labor" Through Monday Practice
Sept. 4, 2000
CORAL GABLES, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – The fourth-ranked Miami Hurricanes used Labor Day to hone their skills for two hours in the South Florida heat Monday afternoon with an intense football practice at the Greentree Practice Field on the UM campus.
The Hurricanes, who face 15th-ranked Washington at Seattle Saturday afternoon, appeared healthy and focused as their first major test of the season loomed five days away. ABC will televise the game to most of the nation with kickoff slated for 3:30 p.m. Eastern time.
“It was a good day of work for us,” said head coach Butch Davis. “Since Labor Day is a holiday, we were able to spend more time than normal preparing for the game than we normally would. So we structured the day like a NFL day with meetings in the morning and an early afternoon practice. It was very productive.”
The Hurricanes return to practice Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. Head Coach Butch Davis and requested players and coaches will be available for interviews by the news media at the weekly Football Press Conference Tuesday beginning at 12:30 p.m. at the Team Meeting Room in the Hecht Athletic Center.
