Brian Stinson Named August Academic All-Star

Brian Stinson, a senior defensive lineman on the football team, has been selected as the Athletic Department’s August Academic All-Star. He will be looking to complete his Master’s of Education in Higher Education/Enrollment Management in 2000.

Stinson, who comes to Miami from DeLand, completed his undergraduate degree in Psychology in 1999. Entering the fall semester, Stinson has recorded a grade point average of 3.433 in his Masters studies.

Coming out of DeLand High School in 1996, Stinson was regarded as one of the top defensive line prospects in Florida. He was the Orlando Sentinel’s Defensive Player of the Year, as well as a First-Team All-State selection.

At Miami, Stinson has toiled between defensive tackle and defensive end in his four-plus seasons in Coral Gables. He has seen action in 29 games in his career and has totaled 30 tackles.
