Davis, Wise In Action At Saturday's East-West Shrine Game

STANFORD, Calif. – University of Miami Head Football Coach Butch Davisand senior center Ty Wise (Pensacola, FL) will represent the East team inthe East-West Shrine Game on Saturday, January 15 at 4 p.m. ET at StanfordStadium in Stanford, CA. Davis is one of three coaches for the East squad,while Wise is one of 90 seniors participating in the annual all-star game.
Davis will coach the East squad along with Steve Spurrier of Floridaand Nick Saban of Louisiana State. Bruce Snyder of Arizona State, DennisFranchione of Texas Christian, and Larry Smith of Missouri will coach theWest.
Wise, a three-year starter and two-year captain at center for theHurricanes, was a first-team All-BIG EAST selection in 1999. Wise helpedpave the way for UM’s 4,853 yards of total offense en route to a 9-4 seasoncapped off by a 28-13 win over Georgia Tech in the Toyota Gator Bowl. Wiseis known for his unique off-season training which involved pushing hispick-up truck up and the use of a special chicken-wire cage, designed by thesenior center, that developed technique and footwork.
The East-West Shrine Game in its the 75th year, benefits Shrinershospitals across North America. The game will be televised nationally onESPN.
