Miami-Syracuse Game On The Horizon

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami football team (6-4, 4-1 BIG EAST)held a two-hour workout in full pads on Wednesday afternoon at the GreentreePractice Facility. With the practice, the Hurricanes continued itsgame-week preparations for this Saturday’s game with Syracuse (6-4, 3-3 BIGEAST) at the Orange Bowl.

Following the practice, Head Coach Butch Davis reiterated the challengesthat the Hurricanes face in preparing for Syracuse.

“We still have a lot to accomplish,” said Davis. “Syracuse is adangerous team and has an awful lot of weapons in all three phases. They doa good job in everything that they do. I know that they’re going to comedown here to battle.”

Sophomore running back Najeh Davenport and senior linebacker MichaelSmith are both expected to be out for the year with right knee injuries.Sophomore quarterback Kenny Kelly (sprained MCL in left knee) will not playvs. Syracuse, but is week-to-week thereafter. Senior offensive tackleRobert Hall (sprained right ankle) will not play vs. Syracuse. Juniorfullback Will McPartland (concussion) has been cleared to play vs. Syracuseafter missing the Rutgers game. Junior running back James Jackson (rightknee sprain) is day-to-day.

The Hurricanes will hold an abbreviated practice on Thursday morning at theGreentree Practice Facility. Practices are closed to the public.
