Davis Likes What He Sees At Wednesday's Practice

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The eighth ranked University of Miami footballteam conducted a two-hour workout in full pads on Wednesday afternoon at theGreentree Practice Facility. With the practice, the Hurricanes continuedpreparation for their matchup with No. 3 Penn State at the Orange Bowl onSeptember 18.

Head Coach Butch Davis applauded the team’s effort and performanceat the practice, one day after the practice schedule was disrupted due tothe threat of Hurricane Floyd. On Wednesday, the ‘Canes worked out at 7:30a.m. due to the storm.

“I really felt like we came back and had the best practice that we’ve hadall week long,” said Davis. “The players moved around well and reallylooked comfortable with the things we’ve been presenting them. I thought itwas a very good practice.”

Sophomore running back Najeh Davenport (right knee) is expected to miss theyear. There were no new injuries to report.Miami will return to practice on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. at the GreentreePractice Facility. Practices are closed to the public.
