CORAL GABLES, Fla. — The eighth ranked University of Miami footballteam conducted a 90-minute workout in shorts on Friday afternoon at theGreentree Practice Facility. With the workout, the Hurricanes continuedpreparation for their matchup with No. 2 Penn State at the Orange Bowl onSeptember 18.
Following the practice, Head Coach Butch Davis praised the offense, one day after the defense dominated play in practice on Thursday.
“I thought the defense thoroughly dominated yesterday’s practice,”said Davis. “They (the defense) were considerably sharper and moreaggressive. Today, the offense came back and had a much better practicetoday against the first-team defense. The completed some passes, made someplays and played with a lot more confidence.”
Davis also commented on the benefits of an extra week in preparingfor Penn State and their multiple schemes.
“Penn State is very complicated,” said Davis. “I think having theopen date is very good for us, because they have a number of differentalignments and it (the extra time) helps us from a recognition andidentification standpoint.”
Miami will take the weekend off before returning to regular practice with aworkout at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Greentree Practice Facility.Practices are closed to the public.
