“I thought we came back today with a real healthy attitude,” said Davis.”We’ve got about 30 guys with knick, bumps, bruises and we’ve got to pushthrough it. We can’t afford to miss any work.”

Reflecting upon the weekend’s scrimmage, Davis praised quarterback KenDorsey, naming the true freshman the second string quarterback behind KennyKelly. Dorsey went 14-18 for 236 yards and two touchdowns at Saturday’sscrimamge.

“We’ve promoted Ken Dorsey to second-team quarterback,” said Davis. “Hemade plays, took advantage of opportunities and performed under pressure. When Ken got the opportunity, he really did well. He performed very wellagainst a mixture of first and second team players (on defense).”

Davis also called the battle between sophomore Martin Bibla and senior EricSchnupp even at right guard. In addition, Davis pointed out the performanceof senior fullback Mondriel Fulcher. Fulcher was converted from tight endto fullback last spring.

“Both Eric Schnupp and Martin Bibla had a very fine scrimmage”, added Davis. “Nothing has really been settled between them. They both played with thefirst unit and both played very well on Saturday. Also, Mondriel Fulcher isreally performing and playing well at the fullback position.”

Defensively, Davis praised the play of the starting linebacking corps ofNate Webster, Dan Morgan and Michael Smith as well as freshmen linebackersJermell and Jerrell Weaver.

“Nate Webster, Dan Morgan and Michael Smith all performed well,” said Davis.”They were all around the football and very productive. The Weaver twinswere making some plays and doing some nice things on special teams.”
