Wayne Canaday - Men's Basketball - University of Miami Athletics

At Miami: Transferred to Miami a year ago from Vincennes Junior College and after a slow start, he suddenly came up with 19 points and 13 rebounds against Yale in the Marshall Tournament…Wayne later became a tower of scoring and rebounding strength…He finished the year with 337 points and 319 rebounds for averages of 14.0 in scoring and 13.3 in rebounding…In his last 10 games, Canaday had at least 10 rebounds each time on the floor and scored in double figures in his last 12 starts and topped 20 points four times…His big game in scoring was a 26-point output against Tampa, while his 28 rebounds against Bucknell was the second highest single game ever at Miami.

At Vincennes: Wayne’s pre-Miami credentials indicated an aptitude for changing the scoreboard…He carried Vincennes into the National Junior College tournament two years in a row, and was one of 48 athletes invited to try out for the 1968 Olympic team. His hook shot from either side and his jump gave him a 16.8 scoring average at Vincennes to go with a 12.3 rebound mark.

High School: All-Lake County and All-Regional, his coach was Chris Tricoff.

Personal: Physical Education Major.
