CAREER: A solid punter who can step in to the job, if needed…hasbeen a vital part of the kicking game, taking over the holder dutiesand handling it flawlessly in 2003…showed poise and calm in pres-suresituations last year in his first season as the holder…historymajor.

 

2003 (JUNIOR): Started all 13 games as the team’s holder onplacement kicks…a major factor in placekicker Jon Peattie’s team-leading103 points…with Carter holding, the Hurricanes successfullyconnected on all 39 extra point tries, while hitting 22-of-28 fieldgoals…threw a perfect pass on a fake field goal against VirginiaTech, but the sure touchdown was dropped…overcame a broken legsuffered in December 2002 to return to action in 2003.

 

HIGH SCHOOL: The Columbus Academy…in addition to punting,he played quarterback and free safety…a First-Team All-Districtand First-Team All-Ohio at punter by the ColumbusDispatch…named his team’s Top Defensive Back by his team-mates…made 84 tackles (48 unassisted), intercepted five passes,caused two fumbles, recovered a fumble and recorded a quarter-backsack as a senior…averaged 43.2 yards per punt on 43attempts as a senior, including a long of 68 yards…his punting aver-agewas the highest of any punter in Ohio with at least 20attempts…also earned First-Team All-District honors in baseball,hitting a team-leading 14 home runs to earn the team’s MVP awardin his senior season…a four-year baseball letterman, he batted .687during his senior season…earned 12 varsity letters in three sports(basketball, baseball and football) during his prep career…a Dean’sList student who earned Columbus Academy’s Outstanding Male.
