CAREER: Outstanding placekicker who is deadly accurate inside 40 yards and has excellent range…was 32-of-38 (84.2 percent) from inside 40 yards for his career…consistently put opponents in bad field position with deep kickoffs…overcame diabetes to become one of college football’s top placement specialists…ranks among the greatest placekickers in Miami’s storied history…ranks fourth on the Miami career list for field goals made with 45…ranks 2nd on the all-time Miami career scoring list with 310 points…a total that also ranks 2nd on the Miami career list for kicking points…a two-time First Team All-BIG EAST selection by the league’s head coaches (2001, 2002)…one of only two players from Iowa ever to letter at Miami…is an active spokesperson for the cause of diabetes research.

 

2002 (SENIOR): A finalist for the 2002 Mosi Tatupu Award honoring the top special teams player in college football…a First Team All-BIG EAST selection by the league’s head coaches…made 13-of-22 field goal attempts and 66-of-69 conversion kicks…kicked 38 of 83 kickoffs (45.8 percent) into the end zone…set a school record with 66 conversion kicks (PATs)…his 105 kicking points ranks fifth in UM single-season history…made a pressure 40-yard field goal as time expired in regulartion of the 2003 Fiesta Bowl to send the game to overtime…tied a school record with four field goals against Tennessee to key a 26-3 victory…was the fourth time in his career that Sievers had made four field goals in a game…converted from 37, 39, 44 and 25 yards out against the Volunteers…was 4-of-5 overall against Tennessee…made field goals of 29 and 24 yards in the win at Rutgers…made 2-of-3 attempts at West Virginia, making good from 47 and 37 yards and missing from 41…made all four conversion kicks, providing the winning points in the 28-27 victory over Florida State…also consistently put his kickoffs in the end zone against the Seminoles…named Special Teams MVP by the coaching staff for his performance against FSU…was good from 45 yards out and narrowly missed a 52-yarder against Boston College…made a 31-yard attempt at Temple, but missed from 34 and 45 yards out…was good from 53 and 38 yards at Florida… the 53-yarder against the Gators was a career best for Sievers at Miami…named Special Teams MVP by the coaching staff for his performance against Florida…missed from 57 yards out against Florida A&M.

 

2001 (JUNIOR): Earned First-Team All-America recognition by CNNSI.com…named First-Team All-BIG EAST by the league’s head coaches…earned Second-Team All-America honors by Associated Press and The Sporting News…led the nation and the BIG EAST Conference in field goals made per game (1.91 avg.)…was named BIG EAST Special Teams Player of the Week twice (Sept. 3 vs. Penn State, Nov. 12 vs. Boston College)…led the BIG EAST and ranked fourth in the nation in scoring (10.82 ppg)…set new Miami single-season records for scoring with 119 kicked points…was the difference in Miami’s two closest games of the season, making four field goals against both Boston College and Virginia Tech…made 21-of-26 field goals, tying the school record of field goals made set in 1988 by Carlos Huerta…matched the Miami single-game field goals record three times by kicking four field goals in games against Penn State, Boston College and Virginia Tech…was a key factor in the steady improvement of Miami’s kickoff coverage unit as he began to boom kickoffs into the opponent’s end zone more and more as the season progressed…began the season with a perfect four-for-four field goals performance in the 33-7 win at Penn State…made two-of-three field goal tries against Rutgers…was three-for-three against Pittsburgh… was perfect on all four field goal attempts (38, 24, 43 and 47 yards) in the win at Boston College…made a career-best 48-yard field goal against Syracuse…made four-of-five field goal tries in the 26-24 win at Virginia Tech, succeeding from 34, 43, 42 and 39 yards out…made a 37-yard field goal while going one-for-two in Miami’s 37-14 victory over Nebraska in the Rose Bowl.

 

2000 (SOPHOMORE): Overcame two concussions and a diabetes diagnosis in midseason to post a solid season…converted 11 of 17 field goal attempts (64.7 percent) and led the team in scoring with 85 points…successful on 52 of 58 extra-point attempts (89.7 percent)…the BIG EAST’s top scoring placekicker at 7.7 points per game…his 11 field goals made ranked second in the BIG EAST…was 10 of 11 on field goal attempts inside 40 yards…made a 50-yard extra-point against Boston College after two unsportsmanlike conduct penalties moved the conversion spot back 30 yards…performed that feat again following Miami’s final touchdown against Florida in the 2001 Nokia Sugar Bowl…those 50-yard kicks were longer than his career-long field goal of 40 yards made against West Virginia…produced touchbacks on 28 of 83 (.337) kickoffs…placed the ball within the five-yard line on 64 of his 83 (.771) kickoffs…opponents averaged starting at the 22-yard line off Sievers’ kickoffs…his single-season best came against then-No. 2 Virginia Tech when he recorded touchbacks on four of his seven kickoffs against the Hokies…his previous season-best came at West Virginia when he recorded touchbacks on five of his nine kickoffs, while eight of nine fell within the two-yard line.

1998 (FRESHMAN): Handled the bulk of the Hurricanes’ kickoff duties as a true freshman…saw action in 11 games…missed the Temple contest to attend grandfather’s funeral in Iowa…handled 61 of UM’s 76 kickoffs…14 kickoffs went for touchbacks.
