Coral Gables Regional (6/5): Pitched the best game of his career to earn the win against Mississippi State in the Regional Championship … threw 4.0 innings of relief without allowing a walk … gave up four hits and tied a career high with three strikeouts … entered the game with a runner at third and two outs in the fifth inning and struck out the first batter he faced on three pitches. At ACC Tournament (5/25-26): Pitched an inning of scoreless relief against N.C. State … pitched two-thirds of an inning against Clemson. At Clemson (5/20-21): Had his roughest overall series of the season, giving up four earned runs in 1.2 innings over two appearances. At Virginia (5/13-14): Pitched a total of 1.1 innings of relief, including an inning of scoreless work in a 1-0 win on 5/14. Vs. Jacksonville (5/8): Gave up four hits in 1.2 innings and surrendered two earned runs. Vs. Maryland (4/30-5/1): Threw one scoreless inning in a Game 2 win … gave up his first earned run in 10.1 innings in the series finale. At North Carolina (4/16-17): Pitched a total of 4.1 innings in both of Miami’s wins without allowing a run and striking out five with no walks … picked up his second win of the season with 3.0 innings of relief in the second game of the series. At Virginia Tech (4/9-10): Saw action in the final two wins of the series, totaling 2.0 innings and giving up one hit. Vs. Oral Roberts (4/2): Surrendered two earned runs on four hits in two innings of relief. Vs. Georgia Tech (4/27): Gave up one hit in 1.1 innings in the series finale. At Wake Forest (3/18-19): Let in three runs (one earned) in 2.0 innings … walked a season-high three batters in his first appearance of the series. Vs. Rutgers (3/16): Struck out one in an inning of relief. Vs. Duke (3/13): Gave up one run on two hits. Vs. N.C. State (3/5-6): Pitched in the series opener and finale … threw 2.2 innings and surrendered five hits and one earned run to pick up his first win of the year to close out the series. Vs. George Washington (2/26-27): Totaled 2.1 innings of scoreless relief in two games with three strikeouts. At Florida (2/18-20): Saw action in all three games … gave up a run in a third of an inning in the opener … threw 2.1 innings over the next two games without allowing a run. Vs. South Florida (2/13): Retired both batters he faced … Vs. High Point (2/4-6): Did not allow a hit in his first two appearances of the season.
Sophomore (2004)
Crafty left-hander who was a consistent performer out of the bullpen last season … made 12 appearances on the season and pitched 6.1 innings … led the team in strikeouts per nine innings with 15.6 … stuck out 11 opposing batters in those 6.1 innings … posted a 2.84 ERA … stopped a Tennessee rally by striking out three and giving up no hits and no runs in 1.1 innings of work on Feb. 21 … struck out two and gave up one hit in 0.2 innings vs. Minnesota on Feb. 29 … pitched one scoreless inning, striking out two vs. Maine on March 4 … worked 0.2 innings vs. Illinois-Chicago, striking out one and and walking one … pitched an inning in a win over Florida Atlantic and allowed one run on two hits.
Freshman (2003)
Lane was a reliable left-handed arm out of the UM bullpen … made 13 appearances with a 4.50 ERA … had a 2-1 record and held opponents to a team-low .219 batting average … pitched 18 innings, striking out 10, while only allowing 14 hits … earned his first career win against South Florida on March 12 with 2.2 innings of work, allowing two hits and one run while striking out a career-best three … picked up the loss on Feb. 28 against The Citadel, allowing two runs on one hit in one-third of an inning … threw 2.1 innings against Oral Roberts on April 5, holding the Golden Eagles without a hit … worked 1.2 innings against Virginia on April 13 without giving up a hit and striking out one … picked up his second career win with 1.2 innings of relief at FIU on April 16 … pitched three scoreless innings at Jacksonville on May 10, allowing only one hit … pitched one scoreless inning at fourth-ranked Long Beach State, striking out one. 2003 NCAA Coral Gables Regional: Lane allowed one hit and two run against Bethune-Cookman on May 30. 2003 College World Series: Lane threw one inning against Texas in the Hurricanes CWS opener, holding the Longhorns hitless and scoreless over one inning of work … issued one walk and struck out one.

Coached by Manny Fernandez at Miami Killian High School … captured second-team All-Dade County honors (Miami Herald) … chosen as MVP of South Fall League … scholar athlete and co-captain … three-year letterman … attended the same high school as former Hurricanes Kris Clute and Brian Walker.
