Sosa Named to Buster Posey Award Midseason Watch List
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Miami catcher Alex Sosa has been named to the Buster Posey Award Midseason Watch List, recognizing the nation’s top catcher.
Sosa has been a key contributor for the Hurricanes through the first half of the 2026 season, appearing in 29 games while batting .346 with 38 runs scored, 37 hits and nine home runs. He has driven in 34 runs and totaled 77 bases, posting a .720 slugging percentage and a 1.478 OPS.
Behind the plate, Sosa has been equally impactful, committing just two errors across 214 chances for a .991 fielding percentage while also throwing out five runners.
Miami will return to Mark Light Field this weekend for a three-game ACC series against Virginia Tech, beginning Friday at 7 p.m. First pitch will air on ACCNX with radio coverage available on WVUM 90.5 FM.
