W. Tennis Earns 10th Consecutive ITA All-Academic Team Honor
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s tennis team earned multiple academic distinctions from the ITA, as announced Monday morning.
For the 11th time in the last 12 years, including the 10th in a row, the Hurricanes received ITA Academic Team distinction. The honor goes to all teams with a combined cumulative GPA of at least 3.2 for the academic year. Miami posted a stellar 3.75 mark in 2023-24, its 10th time in 12 years above 3.5
Additionally, six Hurricanes received ITA Scholar-Athlete plaudits: Antonia Balzert, Audrey Boch-Collins, Isabella Pfennig, Leonie Schuknecht, Maria Paula Vargas and Xinyi Nong. The honors goes to student-athletes with at least a 3.5 GPA for the academic year.
A graduate student, Balzert posted a 3.79 GPA in her master’s in business analytics and was an All-ACC Academic honoree.
Boch-Collins, a criminology major, tallied a 3.92 GPA in her final year at Miami. The Las Vegas native also claimed All-ACC Academic Team recognition every season as a Hurricane.
Pfennig, a CSC Third Team Academic All-American, recorded a perfect 4.0 GPA during her last season at The U for the third time as an economic major.
Schuknecht ended her college career at Miami, where she registered a near-perfect 3.96 GPA and graduated with a bachelor’s in art.
As a freshman, Paula Vargas notched a 3.6 GPA on her way to an accounting degree.
In her first year as a Hurricane, Nong registered a 3.5 GPA as she studied Motion Pictures Studio.
Five of the six Hurricanes who received ITA Scholar-Athlete distinction also made the ACC All-Academic Team.
