Football Continues Ascent in Major Polls

CORAL GABLES, Fla. — Following a resounding 41-7 win on the road Saturday at Temple, the Miami Hurricanes continued their ascent in both major college football polls released Sunday.

Miami, which has been ranked in each of the last three sets of polls, jumped two spots to No. 18 in the Associated Press Top 25 and three spots up to No. 18 in the US LBM Coaches Poll on Sept. 24.

The Hurricanes (4-0, 0-0 ACC) have an open date this week before returning home to Hard Rock Stadium on Oct. 7 for their first conference clash of the fall against Georgia Tech (2-2, 1-1 ACC).

“Certainly you want to use the bye week to get healthy, but you want to use the bye week to get better. There’s a balance there,” head coach Mario Cristobal said following Saturday’s win over the Owls. “You want to self-scout to see what you’re doing, where your tendencies are, make sure you can evolve as an offense and defense and find the things you need to work on.”
