W. Tennis Finishes No. 20 Nationally

CORAL GABLES, Fla. The University of Miami women’s tennis team placed No. 20 in the year-end ITA rankings, as announced Wednesday.

The No. 20 position tied for the highest computer-generated ranking the Hurricanes earned throughout a 2021 campaign.

This is the 18th consecutive full season Miami earned a top-25 spot to close the year. That streak dates back to 2003, Paige Yaroshuk-Tews’ second year at the helm. In addition, the Hurricanes have now finished top-20 nationally in 16 of the last 17 completed seasons.

Miami is one of seven ACC teams in the top 20 of the final rankings, while nine schools in the league placed top-50. Twelve of the conference’s 14 programs finished in the top 75.

Of the Hurricanes’ 24 matches this season, 11 were against teams that finished in the top 11, with five more against top-50 finishers and another six against top-75 finishers. In total, 21 of their 24 contests came against programs that ended the year in the national rankings.

Miami went 15-9 (8-5 ACC) during the 2021 season, reaching the second round of the NCAA Team Championship for the 19th consecutive time.
