McMinn Named Track Athlete of the Week

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Tiara McMinn of the Miami track and field program tied her personal best time and Miami program record of 7.95 seconds in the 60m hurdles over the weekend to earn her ACC women’s track athlete of the week, as announced by the conference Wednesday morning.

“There were so many incredible performances across the board last weekend in the ACC,” director of Track and Field/Cross Country Amy Deem said. “She had a great race and a great time, so I’m really happy that Tiara was awarded this week.”

The junior from Miami won the event at the Texas Tech Invitational on Friday night with the fastest time in the ACC. McMinn’s time also ranks as the second-fastest time in the NCAA and the fifth fastest time the world.

This is the second time McMinn has been awarded this accolade, both during indoor seasons. McMinn earned the same accolade last February after her then-personal best time in the 200m at 23.92 seconds and winning the 60m hurdles, tying the then-nation’s second fastest time of 7.95 seconds at Clemson.

Miami returns to action Feb. 14-15 for the Tiger Paw Invitational in Clemson, S.C.
