Campre Crushes School Record on Final Day of Decathlon

WALNUT, Calif. — University of Miami track and field’s Edgar Campre recorded a historic performance Thursday evening at the 64th Annual Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif.

The 2024 indoor ACC heptathlon champion finished the decathlon competition with a personal best and school record 7975 points.

Campre breaks the previous school record of 7423 points, by Aaron Moser in 2002.

Finishing fifth overall in the men’s elite decathlon division, Campre’s point total ranks him first in the conference and fourth in the NCAA as of Thursday evening.

On day two, the Hurricanes’ multi athlete clocked 14.19 in the 110m hurdles, threw 44.51m in the discus, pole vaulted 4.80m, registered a 51.70m javelin throw, and ran 4:50.57 in the 1500m.

Miami Hurricane alumnus Michelle Atherley tallied 6372 points in the women’s heptathlon to finish first.

A national champion for Miami in the indoor heptathlon, Atherley’s impressive point total currently ranks her first in the world.
